Development of Geopolymer Mortars Using Air-Cooled Blast Furnace Slag and Biomass Bottom Ashes as Fine Aggregates

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of this study is to compare the mechanical and physical properties different geopolymer mortars made with granulated blast furnace slag as a source material, NaOH (8 M) activating solution, three types fine aggregates (air-cooled slag, biomass bottom ashes, silica sand). samples were an aggregate/geopolymer ratio 3/1, (density mercury intrusion porosimetry), (compressive flexural strength), acid attack resistance determined. When air-cooled used, are improved compared sand ashes because existence amorphous phases in which increase reaction rate despite particle size being higher than other aggregates. It can be highlighted that use ACBFS aggregate produces better cement Portland mortar.

Technical Effects of Air Cooled Blast Furnace Slag on Asphalt Mixtures

Air cooled blast furnace slag is a by product made of gradually air cooled molten blast furnace slag and is often stored in stockpiles near the iron mills and usually occupy a wide area around the iron mills. From this perspective the further use of these materials can have its own merits. Air cooled blast furnace slag can be used in asphalt mixtures because of their proper frictional propertie...

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

1. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) is a by product of the steel industry. Blast furnace slag is defined as “the non-metallic product consisting essentially of calcium silicates and other bases that is developed in a molten condition simultaneously with iron in a blast furnace.” [1] In the production of iron, blast furnaces are loaded with iron o...

repair mortars and new concretes with coal bottom and biomass ashes using rheological optimisation

the objective of the present work is to analyse the potential of using non-classical additions in concrete and mortar compositions such as coal bottom ash (ba) and biomass ash (bio), as partial replacing binder of ordinary portland cement. it is intended to deal with production of these type of wastes and its accumulation and contribute to the minimisation of carbon and embodied energy in const...

Soil Stabilisation Using Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

Stabilisation is a broad sense for the various methods employed and modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance and used for a variety of engineering works. In today‟s day soil stabilisation is the major problem for civil engineers, either for construction of road and also for increasing the strength or stability of soil and reduces the construction cost. In this t...
